Welcome to the website  of the Milwaukee chapter of the Piano Technicains Guild (PTG). The PTG is a national trade
association for piano tuners that provides education in technical skills and  business development as well as resource
materials for pianists and piano teachers.

Associate membership is open to anyone with a professional or avocational interest in piano technology. The most important
thing we do is to qualify members as Registered Piano Technicians by requiring that a technician pass a rigorous set of
examinations. The RPT credential shows that the technician is ready to handle normal piano service and repair.  

Here in Milwaukee, our chapter supports PTG goals by offering a professional peer network, technical presentations at our
monthly meetings and mentoring for Associates new to the trade.   We welcome new members of all experience levels and
hope to be a valuable resource for them in the development of their skills and businesses.

A Registered Piano Technician (RPT) has passed a series of
rigorous examinations on the maintenance, repair, and tuning of
pianos.  Only RPTs are authorized by The Piano Technicians Guild to
display the logo containing the words “Registered Piano Technician”.

An Associate is a member who has not passed the
RPT examinations.  Associates may be studying
piano technology and working toward RPT status,
or may be piano retailers, rebuilders, refinishers or
other specialists.
